JOB SUMMARY:
The irrigation technician, under the supervision of the Director of Agronomy and/or Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent, is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system. The irrigation specialist is required to report any irregularities in irrigation system operation and/or course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent. In addition, the Irrigation Technician will assist in routine grooming practices as instructed by the Golf Course Superintendent and/or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. He or she shall conduct the aforementioned responsibilities in a manner that complies with the world-class standards of The Club at Spruce Peak.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two years work experience in golf course maintenance operation.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Computer skills preferred.
• Good management, communication and judgment for decision-making
• Proven leadership capabilities.
• Knowledge of irrigation related applications.
• Knowledge of irrigation control software and communication systems.
• Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in golf course management.
• Extensive knowledge of operation of turf equipment. Be able to operate all golf course equipment, i.e. mowers, carts, trucks, and tractors.
• Basic knowledge of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf.
• Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and various types of pumps and pumping systems.
• Possess a basic working knowledge of an Integrated Pest Management System.
• Ability to work alone and be self-directed.
• Understanding of Stowe Mountain Club Membership Plan.
• Understanding of Spruce Peak at Stowe community plan and real estate projects.
• Understand and implement Audubon International Signature Sanctuary standards.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to perform physical activities that include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
• Ability to perform medium work (defined as exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
• Visual acuity necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, for accounting, for transcription, for computer terminal use, for extensive reading, for visual inspection involving small defects and small parts, using measurement devices, and assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eye.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:
The list below best represents the majority of the tasks you will be asked to perform at some time during your employment in this position. 1. Responsible for insuring proper working operation of all facets of the irrigation systems
2. Waters greens, tees and fairways to the pre-determined moisture level.
3. Operates irrigation heads and manual watering by hoses in dry areas needing additional water.
4. Monitors soil moisture levels on a daily basis
5. Recommends length and duration of irrigation run times and frequency of operation.
6. Responsible for the daily programming of the irrigation software.
7. Develops, edits, and schedules irrigation operation through the central control system.
8. Implements proper repair and maintenance of on-course irrigation control boxes.
9. Repairs the irrigation system, pipes, valves, and irrigation heads as needed.
10. Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
11. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly irrigation parts room.
12. Monitors three pumping stations for proper function. Communicates with supervisors concerning any pumping malfunctions.
13. Repairs greens with seeds or plugs of new grass when needed.
14. Grades and prepares soil base, lays sod and seeds greens, tees and fairways when disrupted by irrigation repair.
15. Operates dump trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris.
16. Hand mows greens and tees along with hand raking bunkers as needed.
17. Mows rough and fairways as needed.
18. Occasionally supervises a small labor force for special projects, and performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
19. Responsible for insuring proper working operation of all facets of the irrigation systems.
20. Enforces safe working conditions with all job assignments.
21. Reports golf course conditions and all disciplinary problems to the Golf Course Superintendent.
22. Must effectively interact with members, community guests, residents, ski facility operations personnel, and Stowe Mountain Lodge guests and personnel.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND SCHEDULE:
Environment: 15% Indoors and 85% Outdoors.

Technician candidate will be a well rounded mechanic that can repair, troubleshoot, fabricate
and customize golf cars and utility vehicles. This vital Service Technician position will report to

Ideal candidate should have:

• Engaging customers to explain repairs.
• New and used vehicle deliveries.
Salary: $26.00 – $34.00 per hour
